Horseshoe theory

This refers to the argument
that far-Left and farRight
ideologies fall into
the same, not opposite,
end of the political spectrum.
This is analogous to
the two ends of a horseshoe
which fall on the
same side, with extreme
ideologies of the Left and
the Right occupying each
end. The theory is attributed
to French philosopher
Jean-Pierre Faye
who argued that both the
far-Left and the far-Right
rely on big government to
impose their own versions
of collectivism on the population.
So, despite some
fundamental differences in
their vision for society, the
Left and the Right are essentially
more similar to
each other, he said
